Every year one boy and one girl from each district is forced to participate in “The Annual Hunger Games”, a televised event where the participants, or “tributes”, must fight to the death in an outdoor arena until only one is left standing. The story begins when young Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her sister's place in The Hunger Games. Joined by Peeta Mellark, a boy from District 12, she goes into the games making choices that will change her life forever.

But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry, and they want revenge.
